How my life was destroyed by ‘yes men.’

Are your ears addicted to praises? If yes, don’t worry. You are not alone. It’s human nature. Almost every normal person want to hear - ‘Oh you are great’, ‘you are the best’, ‘you are beautiful’, ‘you are right’ wow! Because these words are so sweet and everybody love to hear them. What to do, we have to feed our ego. Because of this nature, we also want people to always agree with us. We want ourselves to be surrounded with ‘yes man.’ Don’t you? In fact people who oppose you enter your blacklist. But hey, be wise. Don’t think that all of them are genuine. Many of them might be laughing at you behind your back.

I met a guy who told me this sadly: “Buddy, my life was destroyed by people who always agreed with me.” How true. It says it all. In life, we want everything and everyone to agree with our terms. We want everything to be nice and easy. We hate corrections. We fail to see that sometimes our enemies are our best teacher.  I am not saying that ‘all those who praise you or agree with you’ are fakes. No. But what I am trying to say here is that be wise. If someone seems to agree with you all the time, beware. If someone praises you all the time, beware of that too.

Instead, try learning to respect those who don’t agree with you. In doing so, they might be offering you a life-boat. No matter how smart you may be, you are not the smartest. And taking heed to good advice is real smart.

Desire, Ask, Believe, Be Holy, Receive

Jesus said, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” [Matthew 21:22]

Wow, sounds great. What good news really. Just imagine receiving what you want and all you have to do is ask and believe. Well, this is true. However it is not easy as it sounds. This promise is conditional. There is no such thing as something for nothing. If you want to receive, you have to give something first. No pain no gain right? Jesus knows your every need (not greed) and is willing to give them to you provided you obey his commandments. For it is written in I John 3:21: “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.

Therefore don’t be carried away or misled by thinking or teachings that you will get everything only if you believe. In fact, asking God without obeying him would be like asking bread from someone after having robbed him.
